Cullinan Park Conservancy Announces 2019 Photo Contest Winners

December 04, 2019

Cullinan Park Conservancy (CPC) announced the 2019 Photo Contest winners at its 3rd annual Picnic for the Park fundraising luncheon held October 18, with Memorial Hermann Sugar Land Hospital as presenting sponsor.

The contest had four categories – Wildlife, Landscape, Flora and Photographer’s Choice. The contest featured two age requirement categories – an adult category and a category for those under age 18. In all, more than 100 entries were submitted, and the judging panel consisted of three well-known local photographers. The single criterion for the contest was that all photos be taken at Cullinan Park.

In the adult group, the following entries won first place in their respective categories:  Wildlife – “Colorful Caterpillar” by Irfan Ali; Landscape – “Alive” by Heather Lafon; Flora – “Button Bud” by Kavita Pikle; and Photographer’s Choice – “Lotus Flower with Bees” by Pauline Zinn.

The age 18 and under winners in the respective categories are: Wildlife – “Wild Cullinan Beauty” by Hannah Willars; Landscape – “The Stage is Done” by Uzi Rico; Flora – “Busy Bees” by Anika Patel; and Photographer’s Choice – “Which Way” by Amanda Teague.

Cullinan Park Conservancy hosted the photo contest to highlight the diversity of the natural scenery, including a variety of flora and fauna, at the 754-acre Joseph S. and Lucie H. Cullinan Park in Sugar Land. The Conservancy works to enhance the enjoyment of the Park for all by raising funds for capital improvements.
